Wayne Mackeson’s portraits

Wayne Mackeson takes lovely black-and-white portraits. I could blog so many of his images, but have chosen to embed just this one—”Tío Carli and his Mother”—not because it’s his best, but because it’s both naturally warm and neatly composed.

Not only is it nice and warm, it is a nice composition and a difficult exposure with the bright window and dark interior, which has been nicely represented!

Love the timelessness of this photo. Well done and good use of natural light.

It’s a beautiful example of human documentary photography at its best and most powerful. Window light portraits are some of my favourites. I love photographers who are not afraid of the shadows too.

Black and white is the EXACT colour for emotion…

Really sweet picture. The lighting is spot on, and I love the way they used black and white to give it a nostalgic feel. Very good.
